Sports Medicine as well as Occupational Medicine is a tool of prevention. Occupational Medicine (Legislative Decree 81/08 art. 45 ann. 3) defines a First Aid protocol based on the specific job risk.
The Italian Federation of Sports Medicine underlines the importance of the introduction of a sport-specific risk assessment. It should include a specific and adequate intervention on the field.
PSS are guidelines created by FMSI in collaboration with the Italian National Health Institute.
It has been designed for all professionals working in the sports world in order to handle any kind of intervention.
The PSS training (protocol and lessons), is based on the sport specific risk.
GUIDELINES: ILCOR, ERC(European Resuscitation Council), IRC (Italian Resuscitation Council), American Heart ASS., PTC (Italian Resuscitation Council).


PROGRAMME:

Presentation of the course

Assessment of the Sport-Specific Risk (RSS)
MOGESS: Venue emergency organization based on the Sport-Specific Risk

Tasks and Duties of a lay first-aider (PSS/PSS-D)

Emergencies: Shock, Heart failure, Anaphylactic shock, Acute respiratory distress
Assessment and management of the medical emergencies
Primary assessment: AVPU and ABC, Airway management
Circulatory collapse and circulation assessment
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The AED
Requests help and an AED
Practical simulation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation with AED
The recovery position

Emergencies/Traumatic injuries: fractures, dislocations, muscle traumas. Epistaxis. PNX
Musculoskeletal trauma
Assessment and use of splint

Major Trauma (concussion, maxillofacial trauma, ocular trauma, spinal injury, thorax injury, abdominal injury)
Concussion and neck injury association
Concussion assessment
Airway management for trauma (jaw thrust)
AVPU and GCS
Pocket mask, nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal airways
Immobilization simulations: log-roll, extrication, pick-up, cervical collar, spinal board, splints
